Founded by Emperor Pick Peters in 1973, the band quickly established themselves with their debut album “Kango Kango l’agogo n dun,” which showcased their distinctive sound characterised by immersive instrumentals and resonant, meaningful lyrics. The Emperor, also known as the “Wizard Guitarist,” demonstrated exceptional skill on the guitar while serving as the group’s primary songwriter, performer, and visionary leader. His musical prowess and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Identity Records, giving him greater control over his artistic output. The band’s sound epitomised the mellow Juju style of the era, featuring intricate guitar work, traditional Yoruba percussion, and vocals that seamlessly blended spiritual themes with social commentary.
